Master’s Thesis in Translational DNA Damage Biology

10.08.2026, Abschlussarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten

Nucleoside analogues are important anticancer drugs, yet some cancer cells survive treatment. In this experimental Master’s thesis, you will investigate the molecular mechanisms behind this escape.

You will validate promising screening hits using Celigo-based assays and Western blotting, examine their effects on the cell cycle, and determine whether they reverse a shared MK2-dependent resistance mechanism.

The project offers:

- A focused research question with translational relevance

- Ownership of an experimental project from validation to mechanistic insight

- Training in mammalian cell culture, Celigo imaging, Western blotting, cell-cycle analysis, and quantitative data analysis

- Close scientific supervision

You will join a young and collaborative research group at the Department of Medicine II, TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar. Located in central Munich near Max-Weber-Platz, our group combines molecular cancer biology with clinically relevant questions in a supportive and hands-on research environment.

We are looking for a curious and motivated Master’s student in biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, medicine, or a related field. Previous laboratory experience is helpful, but enthusiasm for experimental cancer research, reliability, and willingness to learn are most important.
