Studentische Hilfskräfte - Wind inlet modelling in Kratos Multiphysics
25.09.2026, Studentische Hilfskräfte, Praktikantenstellen, Studienarbeiten
Background
Reliable CFD simulation of wind effects on structures requires a realistic representation of the incoming atmospheric boundary layer.
Your tasks
- Supporting the implementation and integration of a synthetic inflow turbulence generator
- Setting up and running verification cases
- Documenting the implementation
- Workload of 5 hours/week
You're a good fit if you enjoy
- Programming and working with open-source simulation code
- Working independently and in a structured way
What you bring
- Studies in Computational Mechanics, Computational Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Solid programming skills in Python and C++
- Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and CFD; prior exposure to LES or turbulence modeling is beneficial
- Familiarity with Kratos is welcome but not required
What we offer
- Good compensation according to the standard TUM HiWi rates
- Flexible working hours and the possibility to work remotely
- Supervision within an active research group in wind engineering and computational mechanics
- The possibility to continue the topic later as a thesis
