How can structured recovery impact employee resilience and wellbeing?

How can structured recovery impact employee resilience and wellbeing?

27.07.2026, Diplomarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten

How can structured recovery impact employee resilience and wellbeing? A mixed-methods field study on structured recovery effects on health.

Consultants are not continuously staffed on client projects; the periods between assignments represent a potential opportunity for recovery, yet they are unstructured, not designed for that purpose, and not available to everyone. This thesis examines whether deliberately structuring such a period yields measurable benefits for employee recovery and wellbeing.

The study is designed as a small-scale field experiment. During a period between assignments, one group of consultants completes a structured two-week recovery-and-reflection program, while a matched comparison group has the usual, unstructured interval. You will compare elements of health – energy and sleep as well as resilience and health – and answer the central question: is it the structure, not just the time off, that matters?

Scope of the thesis: developing the study design, collecting data with validated instruments (e.g.. Recovery Experience Questionnaire, Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) plus interviews, and analyzing whether structured recovery is superior to the status quo.

You will get access to a real setting and participants (an intervention cohort and a comparison group); a wellbeing and coaching partner and internal coaches for program delivery; a senior sponsor; and ongoing support from the Learning & Development team of the collaborating company in Munich.
