Master thesis in Insect Ecology

15.01.2026, Diplomarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten

There are still places to do your master thesis in insect ecology and taxonomy, with emphasis on land use impacts on insect diversity and plant-insect interactions.

We collected insects from grasslands in Germany along a land use intensity gradient. We are exploring the effects of mowing, grazing and fertilizer as well as landscape heterogeneity on the diversity and community composition.

Tasks: Taxonomical identification of insects, lab work, computer work (GIS, Stats).

When? Now!

When should you contact us?
If you are interested in being part of a big group and learning how to do a biodiversity assessment:
If you are a responsible and proactive master student.
If you have at least 3-4 times a week for 8 hs to do the lab work for your thesis during (time availability).
If you love insects and want to learn more about them and their role in the ecosystem.

What will you learn? Taxonomical identification, chemical anaylsis, microscopy, biodiversity assessments, stats, and lab work in ecology.

Are you interested? Contact alejandra.parreno@tum.de with a short intention email and your CV.
