Background

In industrial manufacturing, precise component positioning is crucial for reliable traditional automation. Positional errors often lead to waste or system damage. While visual worker assistance systems can help, they don't systematically or automatically check for errors.

Your Tasks

Develop a visual inspection system to detect deviations from the ideal position of parts:

  • Research: State-of-the-art methods for point cloud capture and comparison
  • Data Acquisition: Integrate 3D camera systems to capture point clouds
  • Algorithm Development: Create software for point cloud comparison and deviation detection
  • (Optional) GUI: Visualize deviations and adjust the sensitivity of the detection
  • Prototyping: You will be involved in the entire process from concept to a real-world prototype
  • Evaluation: Assess the prototype's performance using the collected dataset

Your Profile

  • Interest in computer vision, 3D sensors, and robotics
  • Experience in Python programming
  • Knowledge of point cloud processing is a plus
  • Structured, solution-oriented, and independent working style
