Master’s/Bachelor’s Thesis Project Opportunity
Process Modeling and Evaluation of an Intensified Biopharmaceutical Production Process

In this research project, genetically optimized E. coli strains that secrete high-value recombinant proteins into the extracellular medium are used to develop and evaluate novel strategies for process intensification. In the biopharmaceutical industry, process intensification aims to increase productivity and flexibility while reducing costs and the overall process footprint. This can be achieved by implementing innovative equipment, methodologies, and process modes that integrate upstream and downstream operations more efficiently.

The focus of this thesis is on the digital modeling, simulation, and evaluation of the intensified process using the industry-standard software SuperPro Designer. Your role will involve integrating experimental data into the software, verifying its consistency, constructing a complete process flow diagram, and performing cost and process efficiency analyses.

Your Tasks:

Set up and configure SuperPro Designer for the project

Implement and validate experimental process data

Create a detailed process flowchart

Perform process performance evaluations

Conduct economic assessments and cost evaluations

What You Bring:

Interest in bioprocess development, digital modeling, and process economics

Structured and independent working style

Experience with SuperPro Designer is a plus but not required

Possible to work remote 4 days a week
