Bachelor/Master's Thesis or Research Internship - Effects of urban stressors on wild bees
19.02.2025, Abschlussarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten
In the face of urban growth and declining pollinator populations, our project aims to understand how bees are influenced by urbanization. We sampled bees and monitored temperature in urban community gardens across Munich and Berlin as a framework to study these effects. Now we want to understand how heat and imperviousness shape the abundance, diversity, and traits of bee communities.
Requirements:
- Responsibility, motivation, attention to detail, time and ability to come to our laboratory facilities in Freising several times per week
- Interest in ecology, chemistry, physiology, and/or conservation
- Interest in lab work and statistical analysis
- Proficiency in English language
What we offer:
- Training in lab methods on microscopy, chemistry, measurement, and/or identification of bees
- Flexibility to define your own research question(s) within these topics
- Nice workspace and working environment in a collaborative project between two chairs (Urban Productive Ecosystems, Plant Insect Interactions)
- Support and guidance in carrying out an independent research project/thesis
