MSc - Semester project or thesis: Development of an IMU Animated Shoulder Model

The research department of Orthopedics of TUM University Hospital is searching for a master student motivated in joining an opening project. The goal of this project is to create a 3D animated shoulder joint using a pre-built OpenSim shoulder joint model. The student's implication in this project can correspond to both a semester project or a master thesis. If interested, please, contact Marion Forano (marion.forano@tum.de).
Project required steps:
• Validating wireless data transmission between the IMU sensors to the computer, through Hub.
• Collecting upper body data via a built-up Mbientlab IMU jacket.
• Use the scapulothoracic joint OpenSim model (https://simtk.org/projects/scapulothoracic) to develop an Unity-based (preferred) real-time animation.
• Data processing
• Documentation and Evaluation
Prerequisites:
• Basic knowledge of IMUs
• OpenSim (OpenSense plugin https://simtk.org/projects/opensense)
• Unity (preferred), or a similar real-time 3D development engine
