Changes in the booking and offering processes of sport clubs: The influence of digital processes on the performance and operations of sport clubs

Digital processes in sport clubs

06.07.2020, Diplomarbeiten, Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten

Are you interested why sport organizations start to digitalize specific processes and how this influences the performance of sport clubs? The Chair of Sport and Health Management offers students who will be graduating from the TUM Department of Sport and Health Sciences or the TUM School of Management the possibility for interdisciplinary research (i.e., write a bachelor or master thesis).

The sport sector is changing. New commercial providers enter the sport sector and compete with not-for-profit sport organizations (SO) for members and customers in the fields of health, leisure and fitness sports. These commercial providers often simplify processes by providing digital solutions for the booking of courses or sport facilities. In the last years, also SO started to adapt to these shifts to satisfy the needs of their members and to manage the daily work. To do that, many SO started to work together with organizations which specialized on the digitalization of booking processes in the sport sector (e.g. eversports, urban-sports-clubs). The goal of this thesis is to understand why SO start to work together with such providers, how they are influenced by these providers (in case of performance) and how they integrated these new processes in their traditional working processes. Applicants should have an interest in digitalization, sport organizations and change management as well as a proficient literature search abilities.
