From June 17 to 19 the Chair for Nuclear Technology at the Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) hosts the 2009 Spring Meeting of the International CAMP Program. CAMP (Code Application and Maintenance Program) is an international program for cooperation in the use of state-of-the-art computer programs for Nuclear Safety created by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US-NRC). A number of countries from Europe, Asia and America are members of CAMP, from which they receive access to the programs and technical advice and support for their use in a variety of nuclear safety and nuclear design applications.

There are two meetings per year, the spring meeting takes place in one of the member countries, the autumn meeting is always in the USA. During these meetings technical presentations and discussions are carried out and new developments proposed to maintain these computer tools in the forefront of nuclear safety analysis, and to extend their capabilities for future nuclear reactor designs.

The 2009 Spring CAMP Meeting will welcome more than 40 representatives from 15 countries. “The experts will meet for three days at Garching to present their research and development efforts and to pose questions to the experts of the US NRC and to the community of fellow users,” says host Professor Dr. Rafael Macián-Juan. “But we hope that they will also find the time to enjoy the beautiful city of Munich and the Bavarian country side.
