Solidarity with Japan
18.03.2011, News
The academic community of Technische Universitaet Muenchen is still shocked by the damages and devastations caused by earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accidents in the Northwestern regions of Japan. Our thoughts and solidarity are with our friends and colleagues in the affected regions and in the whole country. Our condolences to those who suffered human or material losses; our courage and hope for those who are dedicated to reconstruction.
We are happy to know that our exchange students in Japan are safe and secure. Our partner institution Tohoku University at Sendai, with which we have recently signed an Agreement for cooperation and exchange, has been closed. In case the foreseen exchange of students will be possible in the next winter semester, TUM will grant two students from Tohoku with a scholarship, as a little symbol of sympathy.
All those who want to support help and reconstruction are requested to donate to the joint action “Aktion Deutschland hilft”.
