Postdoctoral Researcher & Battery Team Lead in the Electric Vehicle Lab (m/f/d)
28.11.2023, Wissenschaftliches Personal
The Institute of Automotive Technology is looking for a talented postdoctoral fellow in the field battery research aiming to continue his/her excellent research and take over a leadership role (Team Lead) in the institute
Motivation
Do you want to put your scientific career on the fast track and feel electrified? Do you have ambitions to lead a research team with whom you can design the next-level EV? Become part of our Electric Vehicle Lab at the Institute of Automotive Technology and actively shape the future of mobility!About us
The Electric Vehicle (EV) Lab of the Institute of Automotive Engineering addresses topics related to electric mobility in three teams - from powertrain components such as the high-voltage battery to vehicle design and the integration of vehicles into mobility and energy systems. We improve the efficiency, sustainability and economics of electric vehicles by optimizing and accelerating the integration of components up to complex mobility systems through practical and laboratory tests as well as sophisticated simulations. We not only publish research results gained at numerous conferences and in journals, but also make our software available in open source to continuously expand the state of the art.Your challenge
As part of the EV Lab, you have the chance to actively shape the future of electric mobility. You can further expand your network with partners from science and industry and take on responsibility at the chair right from the start. In your role as a post-doc, you will combine team and institute-oriented tasks with in-depth scientific work. After an orientation period, you will have the opportunity to take over the leadership of a team in the EV Lab. Your professional and private development is very important to us and will be actively supported. You are expected to actively shape and develop the EV Lab. This includes the establishment and support of cooperations with partners from science and industry. In addition, you will participate in the university's self-administration and the structural tasks of the institute. You will be actively supporting our EV Powertrain team, which focuses on research related to high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles. In particular, investigations into battery degradation and battery safety as well as enabling ultra-fast charging are the subject of current investigations. There is the opportunity to further deepen existing research in the field of lithium-ion batteries as well as to investigate new approaches - for example, also on the basis of other components in the electric powertrain. A doctorate in the field of battery research is an advantage.Your profile
You are highly interested in current developments in the field of electric mobility. You have completed a doctorate of above-average quality in a thematically related field (e.g. battery technology, automotive engineering, electrical engineering) and have previously completed your master's degree in a technical field, such as mechanical engineering, computer science or electrical engineering, with good grades. Experience in scientific work, project proposal writing and team leadership are part of your repertoire. In addition, you are interested in theory-practice transfer and like to work collaboratively. Relevant publications in scientific journals and at conferences complete your portfolio. What we offer
- Salary according to Bavarian public official employment law in group A14, 100%
- Lateral leadership of a dynamic and committed team of approx. 10 PhD students
- Fixed-term full-time position for 3 years with option to extend
- Innovative research area with high societal interest and relevance
- Modern working environment and infrastructure
- Wide range of test benches and methodological expertise, including three battery laboratories (cell, module and pack level; > 200 test channels)
- Flexible working hours incl. work from home
- Own budget for further education and conferences
- Opportunity to spend time abroad
The position is suitable for disabled persons. Disabled applicants will be given preference in case of generally equivalent suitability, aptitude and professional performance.
