PhD position at the Chair for Algorithms and Complexity

A PhD Position is available at the Chair of Algorithms and Complexity. The PhD candidate is supervised by Prof. Harald Räcke. We are looking for candidates with Research interest in the theoretical Analysis of algorithms. In particular, the candidate shall work on appproximation algorithms for scheduling Problems in parallel and distributed Systems. Applicants need to have a strong Background and interest in algorithms and/or combinatorics. You ideally should have an MSc degree in Computer science with a focus on algorithms/theory or a MSc degree in mathematics with a minor in computer science. The Position is for 2 years with the possibility of extension. The starting date is negotiable; we are interested in filling the position as soon as possible. The position is full-time and paid according to salary grade 100% TV-L E 13 (the standard rate for junior scientific staff at German universities; salary depends on experience and amounts to at least 2300 Euro net per month).
