Achieving parallel processor speedup (n times speedup with n processing elements) has been difficult for a broad class of applications. The problem is not technology but programming models. One answer to this speedup problem is to create an idealized data flow machine that exactly corresponds to the application and stream data through the resulting machine. In the dataflow paradigm an application is considered as a dataflow graph of the executable actions.. The extraordinary density achieved by FPGAs allows emulations of the application dataflow machine, providing more than an order of magnitude speedup even as executed as an emulation of the data flow machine.

Copyright developed in the age of the printing press, and was designed to fit with the system of centralized copying imposed by the printing press. But the copyright system does not fit well with computer networks, and only draconian punishments can enforce it. The global corporations that profit from copyright are lobbying for draconian punishments, and to increase their copyright powers, while suppressing public access to technology. This applies to scientific publishing too: scholarly articles must permit redistribution and remix for the good of science. We must strip the journal publishers of the power to prevent this. If we seriously hope for copyright to serve its only legitimate purpose --to promote progress, for the benefit of the public-- then we must make changes in the other direction.

Die Initiative AIAS München e.V. bietet Studenten die Möglichkeit sich im Kampf gegen Blutkrebs zu engagieren. Sie erhalten die Möglichkeit, sich kostenlos als Stammzell-Spender in der Deutschen Knochenmark-Spender-Datei (DKMS) registrieren zu lassen. Im Vorfeld findet ein Informations-Abend am 11.11.2014 von 17 bis 20 Uhr im Raum MW1801.

Eurographics 2009, the 30th Annual Conference of the European Association for Computer Graphics, will take place from March 30 to April 3, 2009, in Munich, Germany. It will be organized on the Research Campus Garching of the Technische Universität München, supported by the TUM International Graduate School of Science and Engineering (IGSSE). Eurographics 2009 will provide a unique platform for the computer graphics community to showcase latest techniques and educational work, and to explore new trends and ideas, and it will also offer the opportunity to demonstrate products and services to this community. The scientific program of Eurographics 2009 is free to all members ot the Technische Universität München.
