We are a small research group looking for a new team member that can create a database for us to handle the large amount of various data sources with different output types and resolutions/units; from different APIs or mediums, that we keep accumulating. In addition, there are several preliminary controls that need to be integrated. The main goal of this task is to streamline this process of converting, matching and cleaning the data to be stored in a single database. A further application would be to connect the database to a ready-made interface, such as Grafana. The algorithm design of the relations will be provided by the team. Our main language is Python.

The Chair for Computer Architecture and Parallel Systems (CAPS) offers a scientific researcher position (100% TV-L E13) in the area system software research for High Performance Computing on the path the Exascale. The work will focus on the development of new resource management and job scheduling techniques that map parallel applications to target systems in a most energy efficient manner. Work will include design, implementation and evaluation of novel techniques for capturing and fulfilling dynamically changing application and system requirements, the participation in standardization techniques to ensure a long-term viability of the research as well as active dissemination via publica-tions and conference participation. CAPS is part of TUM’s department of Informatics, one of the leading CS departments in Europe. We focus on a wide range of aspects of computer architecture – from edge and IoT devices to HPC and cloud systems, from AI accelera-tors to quantum computing systems – as well as the needed system software needed to extract a maximum of effi-ciency form the respective architectures. The latter includes work on programming models, operating systems, scheduling, tools, I/O as well as application optimization.

The Chair of Aircraft Design (CAD) is part of the department of aerospace and geodesy at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and treats aircraft systems as a whole in its research. Among others, research is conducted in the fields of operational aspects of aviation as well as aircraft design which is based on numeric simulations and experimental tests. At the CAD noise research focuses on Urban Air Mobility (UAM) applications like air taxis and cargo drones. Relevant activities in this area are noise optimization and noise modeling of aircraft systems. Noise measurement data are acquired during flight tests with an in-house developed noise measurement system. Numeric noise simulations are conducted utilizing a CFD/Ffowcs Williams-Hawking’s based approach. Large simulations run at the HPC environment of the Leibnitz Supercomputing Centre.

Being able to understand how humans grasp objects is one of the main research topics in recent years. The insights of such knowledge would benefit greatly a variety of fields, including robotics manipulation, which is one of the main unsolved topics in robotics. However, understanding contacts during hand interactions is not a trivial task. Your work will be to accelerate this algorithm using FPGAs and algorithm optimization. Your work will be part of the outcomes of the CeTI project (https://ceti.one/). Therefore, you will have the opportunity of working in a co-supervised environment with a supervisor from MIRMI and a supervisor from the Technische Universität Dresden.
