Student assistant in the Research Training Group "Urban Green Infrastructure"

The Chair of Energy Efficient and Sustainable Design and Building is looking for a student assistant to support the Research Training Group “Urban Green Infrastructure”, specifically Subproject 6. The position focuses on measurements and data analysis to investigate interactions between urban green infrastructure, microclimate, and the built environment.

The collected and analyzed data include weather and microclimate data, building and façade characteristics, surface and material properties, tree species and vegetation characteristics, as well as other urban context information.

Tasks
• Supporting the implementation of measurement campaigns in Munich
• Processing, analyzing, and visualizing measurement data
• Developing and applying Python scripts for data processing and workflow automation
• If applicable, conducting microclimatic simulations with ENVI-met
• If applicable, analyzing and visualizing simulation results
• Conducting literature and topic research on urban green infrastructure and interactions in the urban context
• Preparing presentations and documentation

Your profile
• Interest in urban green infrastructure, microclimate, measurements, and simulations
• Ideally, a completed bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field
• Knowledge of ENVI-met or willingness to become familiar with the software
• Good programming skills in Python, especially for data processing, analysis, and automation
• Confident use of MS Office, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Very good written and spoken English skills; German language skills are an advantage
• Independent, structured, and reliable working style
