Internship in Insect Ecology

06.03.2026, Student assistants, internships, student research projects

Looking for motivated students to participate from the sorting campaign from the project TrophNiche. Înternships preferred, but thesis possible for really committed and creative students.

We still have many samples to sort from our sampling campaign, where we study the effects of land use intensity on invertebrate organisms. If you want to learn about new organisms you have never seen before, you are motivated and you love insects, this is the chance for you :)

We provide:
- Training in sorting and identification (biodiversity analysis)
- Possibility of being part of publications
- Certification for your achievements

This will be a good fit if you:
- Like to learn about insects and their role in the ecosystem
- Have patience and like detail oriented work
- Have minimum 3 days a week to commit for labwork for at least 3 months.

The project can be part of certified internships or thesis. The tasks are intense but rewarding and you will learn a lot about the tiny organisms that sustain our life. Committment for 3 days a week is a MUST, aswell as using Microsoft Teams for regular communication and calendar, and also to attend a monthly student meeting (hybrid) where student presentations will also help you grow academically.

If you are interested, please contact with your CV and a motivation letter: Alejandra, alejandra.parreno@tum.de - AI generated emails will not be answered.
