Student Assistant to work on the INCiTiS FOOD project and on international outreach activities

The Chair of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics of TUM is currently looking for a Student Assistant (d/m/w) to join us immediately to work on the INCITIS-FOOD project and on international outreach activities.

About us We are a Chair at the Technical University of Munich, located in Freising-Weihenstephan, with approximately 30-40 employees, additional external doctoral candidates, and students. In addition to teaching, we are involved in many international research projects. The EU funded research project INCITIS-FOOD explores the potential of selected innovations in urban agriculture in six Sub-Saharan countries. Hydro- and aquaponic systems, as well as insect farming, have the potential to significantly improve livelihoods of urban households. The TUM Chair of Agricultural Production contributes to the project by providing expertise on economic viability assessments and explorations of avenues for adoption of the aforementioned systems. Requirements • Enrollment at TUM • Good knowledge of English. Due to the nature of the position, knowledge of other languages is a plus. • Basic understanding of agricultural economics concepts is desirable, but not mandatory. Tasks • Review the literature on drivers, barriers and opportunities for increased adoption of novel farming methods and technologies in Sub-Saharan Africa • Maintain a database (Excel) with all current and potential international partners of the Chair and research potential international partner institutions in selected countries • Support organizational efforts to schedule online/in-person meetings with international partners What we offer • Participation in an international research project • Direct insight into the international academic and research landscape of a leading university • Practical, hands-on experience in international outreach and agro-economic research within an interdisciplinary and internationally active research group • Flexible working hours, mobile working, and training and support in all tasks by our team members • The remuneration is based on the uniform remuneration rates for student or research assistants.
