Student Assistant (HiWi) – Computational Imaging & Machine Learning for Brain Monitoring

Student Assistant (HiWi)

Computational Imaging & Machine Learning | HyperProbe Project

At the Chair for AI in Healthcare and Medicine, we are currently recruiting a HiWi student to work on an EIC Pathfinder Project (HyperProbe) focusing on the development of new hyperspectral technology for monitoring brain activity. As we approach the final stage of the project, your work will contribute directly to a real device prototype scheduled for clinical trials in the coming year.

Your Tasks

  • Develop further physics-based algorithmic approaches for processing hyperspectral data of brain activity.
  • Implement existing algorithms (standard optimisation and machine learning based) in an efficient, ready-for-practical-use manner.
  • Contribute to a high-impact project and being employed for a duration of at least 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

Your Qualifications

  • Student in Computational Sciences, Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Extensive programming experience with Python and/or ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a clear affinity for math and optimisation problems.
  • Excellent communication skills and an interest in interdisciplinary work.
