Student Assistant for Teaching Support in AI & Agent Software Engineering (m/f/d)

The Chair of Software Engineering and AI at TUM Campus Heilbronn is hiring a Student Assistant (HiWi) to support teaching in AI & Agent Software Engineering. Responsibilities include preparing course materials, designing LLM-based coding exercises, and student tutoring. Applicants should have strong Python skills and experience with AI frameworks.

Location: TUM Campus Heilbronn (onsite preferred)
Start Date: As soon as possible / by agreement
Working Hours: Flexible (e.g., 8–20 hours/week)

The Chair of Software Engineering and AI (Prof. Chunyang Chen) at the TUM Campus Heilbronn is looking for a motivated Student Assistant to support our teaching activities. Our research and teaching focus on the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering, with a special emphasis on Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI in software engineering.

Your Tasks

  • You will primarily support the teaching team for our courses on AI and Agent-based Software Engineering.
  • Assisting in the preparation and update of course materials (slides, coding exercises).
  • Designing and testing practical coding assignments involving LLMs and Agents.
  • Supporting students during tutorial sessions or via online forums.
  • Helping to evaluate and grade student submissions.

Your Profile

  • Student Status: Currently enrolled at TUM.
  • Tech Stack: Strong programming skills in Python. Experience with AI coding (e.g., using OpenAI APIs, LangChain, HuggingFace, or building autonomous agents) is highly desirable.
  • Location: Ideally based in Heilbronn or willing to commute occasionally.
  • Motivation: You enjoy explaining complex technical concepts to others and have a passion for teaching.
  • Language: Proficient in English (written and spoken); German is a plus but not required.
