Passionate about healthcare innovation? Dream of transforming metabolic diseases (obesity, diabetes, fatty liver) care for millions worldwide? Join our state-of-the-art lab to pioneer non-invasive optoacoustics based monitoring. Develop cutting-edge solutions, make a meaningful impact, and gain expert mentoring. Apply now for a life-changing Master's Thesis experience.
About Us
At our lab in TranslaTUM, our focus is on understanding metabolic diseases, using cutting-edge optoacoustic imaging techniques and animal models. We're dedicated to revolutionizing non-invasive monitoring and empowering individuals to live healthier, happier lives.
The Challenge
Traditional methods of analyzing metabolic disease often rely on manual or semi-quantitative assessments (visually inspecting images and assigning scores or measuring features), which can be time-consuming, subjective, and lack spatial resolution. These approaches limit the ability to detect subtle or early pathological changes in complex tissues. We employ advanced opto-acoustic ("light in - ultrasound out") technology to develop a quantitative, label-free approach for tissue characterization and monitoring, leveraging the tissue’s unique spectral signatures for enhanced depth-resolved analysis.
Your Role
As a Master's Thesis student, you will focus on image reconstruction, processing, and quantitative analysis of advanced optoacoustic imaging datasets, enabling high-resolution tissue characterization based on spectral signatures. We are excited to offer one position for a highly motivated student ideally from fields such as computer science, biomedical engineering, medical physics, or related disciplines.
What You'll Gain
• Make a Meaningful Impact: Your work has the potential to directly translate and benefit millions of people with obesity, diabetes, fatty liver improving their quality of life.
• Conduct Cutting-Edge Research: Access state-of-the-art equipment and resources to push the boundaries of non-invasive imaging.
• Receive Expert Mentoring: Our experienced team and professionals from the Chair will guide you throughout your journey.
• Expand Your Network: Connect with renowned professionals and potential collaborators in healthcare and technology.
