Doctoral thesis (Dr.med.) or Master's thesis - Data extraction for meta-analysis in pharmacogenomics

08.05.2025, Studentische Hilfskräfte, Praktikantenstellen, Studienarbeiten

Looking for a student to do research work in our team. We are conducting systematic review and meta-analysis on the influence of CYP450 genomics on clinical outcomes (efficacy and side-effects) of antipsychotic treatment in schizophrenia patients. This project combines genomics, clinical pharmacology in psychiatry and evidence-based medicine.

Medical students are preferred, but students who study psychology, biology, pharmacy or health-sciences are welcome to apply if they are interested in the topic.
Work is expected to start no later than 1.June 2025.

We offer:
-Unique data to use for your doctoral (dr.med) or Master's thesis;
-Authorship on scientific paper;
-Experienced mentor who will provide tools such as flowcharts to simplify complex topics;
-"Secure" thesis: No matter what data we find during data extraction, we will have enough results for the thesis.

We ask for:
-6 months full time commitment (40h/week), and in-person presence in the office;
-Patience and thoroughness, even with repetitive tasks;
-Knowledge of English (No advanced knowledge needed, but day-to-day communication will be in English);
-Willingness to learn to use non-standard computer software.

Work includes:
-Short training regarding our project and software that will be used;
-Reading PDF texts of clinical studies and making decisions if studies fit our criteria;
-Entering data from eligible clinical study texts into our database;
-Optional: Statistical analysis will be done by the mentor, but participants interested in doing research in the future can learn how to perform statistical analysis in R.
