Student thesis available in Pollen nutrition chemistry

14.04.2025, Studentische Hilfskräfte, Praktikantenstellen, Studienarbeiten

We have pollen collected from different parts of Germany along plots with varying land use intensity. The intensity of agricultural practices on these plots can change the nutrient composition of pollen, hence affecting pollinators of that area. We need students who are interested in knowing how pollen chemistry can be altered with land use change.

We have a position open for a master's/bachelor's thesis on the effects of land use intensity on pollen nutrition chemistry. This position entails looking at chromatograms and calculating the amounts of fatty acid and sterols for various pollen samples. The project can be entirely computational or have some lab work involved based on your interests and duration of the project. Of course, we can also include other factors based on your interest. :)

Candidates should have prior knowledge in R.
Knowledge about GCMS and experience in reading chromatograms is not necessary, but a plus.
Lab work experience (if you decide to work on sterols) is desired.
Independent working but ready to attend lab meetings on time is important.
