Are you a creative, tech-savvy student passionate about video production, educational content and storytelling? The Technical University of Munich’s Department of Aerospace and Geodesy is hiring a Student Assistant to produce engaging video content on topics like climate science and planetary exploration. Student Assistant for Video Production and Post-Production (up to 20 hours/week)

About the Role:

We are looking for a motivated and skilled student to join our team as a Video Production Assistant. This role involves working in our small video studio, equipped with audio, video, and lighting equipment. You'll be an essential part of creating high-quality video content for teaching, social media, and science communication. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to educational materials and engaging content on topics such as climate science, planetary exploration, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

– Operate video and audio equipment during recordings, ensuring high-quality production. – Assist with setting up and deinstalling of studio equipment, including lighting, cameras, and microphones. – Support the production of video content for lectures, explainer videos, and social media (Instagram, YouTube, etc.). – Assist in post-production tasks such as video editing, audio processing, and adding visual effects. – Collaborate with faculty and team members to develop creative concepts for audio/video content. – Provide technical support to individuals creating video content. – Ensure the safety, proper use, and management of all studio equipment. – Perform regular maintenance checks on equipment, troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues. – Ensure a smooth production process by being proactive and adaptable.

Requirements:

– Proven experience in video production, podcasting, or creating video content for social media. – Proficiency in using various video and audio equipment (e.g. Blackmagic camera), as well as editing and processing software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Audacity). – Strong interest in learning new applications and improving technical skills. – Ability to take direction well while also being proactive and showing initiative. – Relevant background in directing, scriptwriting, video/podcast production is a plus. – Confident communication skills in English; proficiency in German is an advantage. – Passion for topics related to climate science, planetary exploration, science communication, and storytelling.
