Student Assistants to evaluate pest control measures

The Chair of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics is currently searching for two student assistants to work on the assessment of alternative pest control measures against the invasive Japanese beetle as part of the EU funded project IPM Popillia.

Our team at the Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics is currently looking for two student assistants (d/m/w) for a fixed-period of 3 months as soon as possible to work on the IPM Popillia Project. The EU H2020 funded research project IPM Popillia Project explores the spread, costs and possible control strategies against the invasive Japanese beetle (see https://www.popillia.eu/ for further information on the project). Mobile working is possible and the scope and division of weekly working hours will be agreed upon. It is also possible for the student assistants to combine their task with a master’s thesis or research paper in consultation with the project managers.

Requirements

  • Enrollment at a German University
  • Good knowledge of German and English
  • Basic understanding of agricultural production processes (pest management) is desirable but not mandatory

Tasks

Main task: Work on a study that evaluates Japanese beetle pest control measures

This will include:

  • Literature research on similar studies
  • Application of relevant method(s) (e.g. Cost-Benefit Analysis, Discrete Choice Experiment, etc.) on the Japanese beetle case study. Data will be provided from the IPM Popillia project.  
  • Paper writing
