Gamification for physical activity: The role of the leaderboard size

Are you interested in gamification and research into physical activity for health? The Chair of Sport and Health Management offers students the possibility for interdisciplinary research (i.e., write a bachelor or master thesis). The topic is: "Gamification for physical activity: The role of the leaderboard size".
The goal of the thesis is to explore the role of leaderboard size for the motivation for physical activity depending on the rank of an individual in a leaderboard. Specifically, the thesis aims to find out when stuck-in-the-middle effects of low motivation for future physical activity are smallest and largest. The thesis candidate will conduct experimental research to study the nature of relationship between different leaderboard sizes and motivation for physical activity depending on the rank that an individuals occupies in a leaderboard that is displayed on a smartphone.
