TUM and St Petersburg State Polytechnical University strengthen Co-operation

Technische Universität München and St Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Russia, will in future deepen their co-operation. When visiting Munich, the Governor and Mayor of St Petersburg, Her Excellency Valentina I. Matwijenko, and the Dean of of St Petersburg Polytechnical University, Professor Mikhail Federov, signed a Letter of Intent with TUM Vice President Professor Rudolf Schilling. Therein, TUM agreed to advocate the admission of St Petersburg Polytechnical University to T.I.M.E, the Top Industrial Manager in Europe. More than 40 European universities co-operate in this network and advance students exchange with special programs for dual diploma tracks.
Further, both universities plan to increase their efforts in “JASS”(Joint Advanced Student School), together with the leading 4 universities of St Petersburg. Already in March this year, a JASS session was organized for the sixth time. More than 70 students from St Petersburg and Munich came together to work jointly on latest scientific research.
What is more, including Siemens AG, TUM aims for an intense trilateral scientific and technical co-operation with St Petersburg State Polytechnical University, with a special emphasis in areas such as electrical engineering, turbo engines, and automating technology.
Later, in her address to more than 200 students and professors on “St Petersburg – a new start for a metropole”, Governor Matwijenko stressed the importance of co-operations. She invited all students to visit and to study in St Petersburg, one of the best Russian universities. Her special advice to students: “If you want to be successful in job in future, there is no way to ignore Russian. So come and study it.”
