Ph.D. Position / Research Associate (f/m/d) - Professorship of Marketing & Technology

Firmly embedded in TUM’s technological and entrepreneurial ecosystem, the TUM School of Management places a unique emphasis on the interface between management, engineering, and the natural and life sciences. The School aims to bridge the traditional divide between management and technology through interdisciplinary research and education.

Are you passionate about marketing, technology, and consumers? Join our young, international, and highly motivated team in Munich at the newly established Professorship of Marketing & Technology and explore how emerging technologies (AR, VR, AI) shape decision-making.

YOUR PROFILE
- Excellent Master’s degree in business, psychology, or computer science
- Strong interest in marketing, psychology, new technologies, and decision-making
- Solid quantitative skills (R, Python, or STATA; ML experience is a plus)
- High personal initiative, entrepreneurial mindset, extra-mile attitude, and willingness to thrive in a competitive environment
- Willingness to learn new tools (e.g., Unity, Blender, Unreal Engine, Xcode etc.)
- English proficiency and strong communication skills. German language skills are a plus.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct rigorous research in marketing & technology with the ambition to publish in top journal
- Design and analyze experiments, surveys, and secondary data (e.g., text data)
- Collaborate with international researchers and industry partners
- Support teaching activities, supervise students, and design own modules
- Contribute to grant applications and industry workshops

WHAT WE OFFER
- Start: January or February 2026 (flexible)
- Contract: 3 years; extension possible
- Compensation: Based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L E13, 75%) with appropriate qualifications
- Ph.D. Support: Access to TUM’s doctoral program and external opportunities for continuous quantitative training (e.g., GSERM, ICPRS Michigan) and research stays abroad
- Environment: Work in interdisciplinary teams, and collaborate with top international partners (e.g., University of Michigan, ESADE, ETH Zurich, Oxford, etc.)
