Postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d) at the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology in Freising

Postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d) in the field of intestinal inflammation and epithelial cell biology

07.10.2025, Wissenschaftliches Personal

We are looking for an outstanding, self-motivated postdoctoral researcher. The candidate should have a strong track record and experience in intestinal epithelial cell biology, cellular metabolism and mitochondrial function. Experience in mouse models and ex vivo organoid culture is a prerequisite. The candidate should also have the ambition and commitment to achieve excellence in a highly productive environment.

About us
The research activities at the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology, headed by Prof. Dr. Dirk Haller, focus on the interplay of nutrition and the intestinal microbiome in shaping human health. Changes in the composition and function of this complex microbial ecosystem contribute to the development of chronic intestinal diseases, including inflammatory bowel diseases and colorectal cancer. A major scientific focus of the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology is to identify functionally and clinically relevant microbial mediators in the context of intestinal tissue injury & healing. This project will investigate mitochondrial dysfunction in intestinal inflammation (inflammatory bowel diseases, IBD) and the integration of bacterial signals at the intestinal epithelial interface in murine models and IBD patients.
The Chair is integrated into the ZIEL - Institute for Food & Heath at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), one of Europe’s top universities, and the DFG-funded collaborative Research Center CRC 1371 (www.sfb1371.tum.de). TUM is committed to excellence in research and teaching, interdisciplinary education and the active promotion of promising young scientists.
