OpenStack Cloud System Specialist (f/m/d)

As an OpenStack Cloud System Specialist, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing an OpenStack cloud infrastructure dedicated to medical research. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring its security, reliability, and scalability. You will contribute strategically to the system architecture ensuring the system aligns with security and medical research goals of the DigiMed Bayern Project.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer and manage an OpenStack cloud infrastructure, including deployment, configuration and maintenance.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of the cloud environment.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages, with an emphasis on ansible.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices to protect the cloud infrastructure and data.
  • Cooperate with third-party project partners to enhance workflow efficiency and data migration, integration, and management.
  • Carry out research on state-of-the-art technologies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree (master or above) in computer science, mathematics or natural sciences, preferably with background in IT and cloud computing technologies.
  • Proven experience in system administration, with a focus on cloud environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies.
  • Familiar with at least one programming/scripting language, e.g. Python, Golang.
  • Fluent in English (C1 level).
  • German speaking is a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of different cloud technologies/platforms, e.g. VMware, Kubernetes, Azure etc.
  • Knowledge of storage management systems, e.g. ceph, Lustre.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools, e.g. Checkmk.
  • Knowledge of regulation and compliance framework, e.g. NIS2, C5 etc.
