The Chair of Space Mobility and Propulsion is offering a Research position (m/f/d). The Chair of Space Mobility was created in January 2022 and is now already team of 15.

About us and the position
Through projects such as SPARK, Solar for Ice to Thrust (S4I2T), the ASCENT hopper and its model predictive and fault-tolerant control, the chair is conducting break through research in space propulsion topics under the strategic headlines of democrati-sation of space, in-space propulsion for autonomy and sustainability, intelligent propulsion systems, insanely breakthrough innovation and testing as a service. The Chair has also introduced innovative lecturing methods bringing teaching and research closer together to the benefit of students and researchers alike.

We are looking for a research willing to contribute to advancing testing and diagnostic capabilities and techniques at the Chair.

Required Skills & Experience

 Knowledge and skills in:
o Proven ability to identify and solve problems through a proactive, systematic approach
o Ability to work in a team as well as independently
o Mechanical design as well as analysis of structural and fluid dynamic engineering problems
o Fluent communication skills, both in written and spoken English
o Willingness to attend international conferences and publish internationally

 Advantageous Skills:
o Space propulsion knowledge
o Experience in testing and simulation of engines
o Highly motivated to carry out a research project and to advance a new space technology
o Strong interest in economically sustainable space mobility
o Engineering tools like CAD-programs (e.g. SolidWorks)
o Programming language skills in Matlab and/or Python
o German language level B1 or higher
 Experience in teaching and experience student supervision
