Research Associate (PhD/PostDoc) – Digitalization and Automation in Bioprocessing
10.10.2024, Wissenschaftliches Personal
We are looking for a team-oriented individual to join the TUM Bioseparation Engineering group as a Research Associate (PhD/PostDoc) for digitalization and automation in bioprocessing. The role involves developing and implementing state-of-the-art digitalization platforms for upstream and downstream bioprocesses, integrating data-driven and mechanistic models to enhance process control.
We are seeking a talented individual to join the TUM Bioseparation Engineering group as a Research Associate (PhD/PostDoc) for digitalization and automation in bioprocessing. The successful candidate will develop and implement state-of-the-art digitalization platforms for upstream and downstream bioprocesses, integrating data-driven and mechanistic models for enhanced process control. You will work on the integration of advanced process control systems and automation strategies, and contribute to the development of hybrid models that merge mechanistic understanding with data-driven approaches to improve predictive capabilities in process control. Collaboration in interdisciplinary research projects, contributing to high-impact publications, and presenting findings at leading scientific conferences are also expected.
Applicants should hold a university degree in chemical/process/mechanical engineering, automation, bioengineering, biotechnology, biomanufacturing, or related fields. Experience in process automation, digitalization, and control system integration is highly desirable. Proficiency in programming, data analytics, and the use of digital platforms will be an advantage. Strong communication skills in English are required, with knowledge of German being beneficial but not mandatory. A passion for innovation and developing new methodologies for biomanufacturing is essential.
At TUM, we offer an exciting international environment and a very well-equipped workplace. You will benefit from diverse further education opportunities (TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning, TUM Language Center), public sector pension provision, annual special payments, and TUM health offers, including university sports. The position is full-time according to TV-L, depending on qualifications and personal suitability, and is initially limited to 2 years.
The position is suitable for people with severe disabilities. Severely disabled applicants will be given preference if they have essentially the same qualifications, abilities, and professional performance. TUM aims to increase the proportion of women in research and welcomes applications from women.
We look forward to receiving your meaningful documents (including cover letter, CV, and all relevant certificates). Please send your application, quoting the keyword "Automation," by email to: s.berenmeier@tum.de.
