Mobility Data Scientist (m/w/d) for Urban Mobility

04.09.2024, Wissenschaftliches Personal

The Chair of Automotive Technology is looking for research associates in mobility and transportation research.

Motivation

We are working on one of the most important challenges of our time: the CASE megatrends (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric) are fundamentally changing people's mobility: in future, we will have to rely more heavily on digital, sustainable and shared solutions to meet our transportation needs. As one of the 14 Clusters4Future of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, MCube aims to put these megatrends into practice in metropolitan areas. As part of MCube, we as the Chair of Automotive Engineering stand for data-based and analytical methods in the research cluster. We work together with dozens of partners from research and industry, from OEMs to innovative start-ups, and implement developed solutions in real-world laboratories.

Become part of our Smart Mobility Lab at the Chair of Automotive Engineering and actively shape the future of mobility!

Your Challenge

We are looking for an enthusiastic (Mobility) Data Scientist (m/f/d) with a passion for future mobility. As an IT expert in your project, you will work on collecting and analyzing mobility data, finding patterns and linking different geodata sources to create a powerful data platform. You will use this to understand the behavioral patterns of people on the Garching campus and develop tailor-made mobility solutions.

Your Profile

As the ideal candidate, you have a master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field. Most importantly, you are passionate about IT and have some experience with databases. You have solid programming skills in a high-level programming language (e.g. Python, Java). Geodata, tracking and location-based services spark your interest and a well normalized database gives you a pleasant tingle. Besides your technical expertise, you don't lose sight of the big picture and together with your team you look for the most efficient technologies to achieve your goals.

Your Opportunities

As part of our team, you will actively shape the mobility transition and build up a valuable network of players from industry and science. You will have access to extensive tracking hardware, server infrastructures and databases for your role in the Smart Mobility Lab. You will take on responsibility in the project right from the start and work in a team of experienced smart mobility experts who will shape mobility together with you. As part of your work, you will continuously expand your knowledge, pass it on and supervise student research projects in order to actively help shape the urban mobility of the future. You will have the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D.

What We Offer

  • Temporary full-time position according to TV-L E-13 100% for a total of 3 years
  • Possibility for doctoral studies and start-up founding
  • Innovative research area with high societal interest and relevance
