Student Assistant / M.Sc. project (f/m/d)

Chair of Biological Imaging

08.08.2024, Wissenschaftliches Personal

We are now looking for a highly qualified and motivated Student Assistant (f/m/d) for the M.Sc. project "Development of a real-time acquisition and visualization software for intravascular near-infrared fluorescence and ultrasound imaging"

At the Chair of Biological Imaging (CBI) at the Central Institute for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM) of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) the research group for Fluorescence Imaging focuses on ground-breaking solutions for unmet needs in medicine and biology. Specifically, we investigate the potential of fluorescence and optical imaging as well as spectroscopy for providing 1) insights into the specific molecular changes underlying the process of field cancerization, 2) means of earlier, faster and personalized disease detection, and 3) imaging-assisted surgical planning and intraoperative guidance.

To enhance and expand our capabilities, we are seeking a Student Assistant/M.Sc. student to develop a framework for real-time intravascular near-infrared fluorescence and ultrasound imaging. This project involves designing and developing innovative software capable of acquiring, reconstructing, and visualizing signals at frame rates comparable to clinical intravascular imaging (25-30 fps). Achieving this will be a significant milestone towards the first in-human application of our promising technology. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with highly skilled Ph.D. and M.Sc. students and contribute to ground-breaking research.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechatronic, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Knowledge in signal processing.
• Programming skills in C++ and MATLAB
• Programming experience with real-world instrumentation (hardware/software integration and control).

Additional Qualification

• Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment.
• Excellent command of the English language.
