Postdoctoral Researcher in Production and Resource Economics

The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan and the TUM School of Management offers a position as Postdoctoral Researcher in Production and Resource Economics. The appointment will be 1+1 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (TV-L E13 100%).

Tasks

The successful candidate is expected to actively lead and contribute to the Chair group’s tasks in various national and international projects in the areas of empirical production and natural resource economics. Projects include large international Horizon Europe-financed collaborative projects (e.g., AGRO-WELL, RETOUCH Nexus, INCiTiS-Food, NOVASOIL) or nationally funded projects.

 The successful candidate is also expected to be actively involved in teaching activities and will contribute to the curricula development of the Chair group. He/she will further lead and contribute to competitive project funding bids.

The successful applicant will develop his/her own research agenda in the fields of

  • Natural resource / environmental economics (economics of biodiversity, soil economics, bioeconomy analysis, climate change economics, economics of water governance, economics of food waste, etc.)

    and/or

  • Production economics (agricultural production modelling and optimisation, productivity and efficiency analysis, food economics, policy impact analysis etc.)

    and/or

  • Economics of Digital and Smart Technologies (economics of digital solutions, smart agricultural technologies, AI in agriculture and food production, economics of innovation, acceptance and impact analysis etc.).

Qualifications

Applicants should hold an excellent Ph.D. degree in economics (preferably environmental, natural resource, agricultural economics, innovation economics), applied statistics, or related disciplines. A clear interest in natural resources, technological solutions, applied econometrics as well as exceptional analytical skills are required. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong and proven focus on publishing in international peer-reviewed journals and attracting competitive funding. An ability to work effectively in a young and dynamic research team that is internationally engaged through interdisciplinary research collaborations will be crucial. Exemplary projects (e.g., EU, DFG, BMBF) can be found on our homepage (www.ep.mgt.tum.de/pur/). Regions for current research collaborations comprise among others (South) Asia, Africa and South America. An interest in supplementary teaching is an essential advantage. Finally, excellent spoken and written English are required, while German language could also be an asset.
