The Chair of Materials Engineering of Additive Manufacturing is looking for a full-time applicant as Wissenschaftliche/n Mitarbeiter/in (m/f/d) Founded in 2019, the new Chair of Materials Engineering of Additive Manufacturing at the Technical University of Munich teaches and researches in the promising field of additive manufacturing of metallic structures. The main focus is developing and characterizing metallic high-performance materials for/through additive technologies using experiments and computer-aided methods. Furthermore, the chair is dedicated to challenging questions in the field of computational material design, especially with the help of CALPHAD-based methods. For further development of our simulation environment (https://github.com/cmatdesign/CAROUSEL) and its application for developing new materials and adapting the additive manufacturing process parameters, we are looking for support as soon as possible.
The Chair of Materials Engineering of Additive Manufacturing is looking for a full-time applicant as researcher (m/f/d)
Qualifications and Experience
- Outstanding academic degree in computer science and engineering, materials science, metallurgy, metal physics, or a similar degree
- Experience in software engineering (incl. high-throughput computing)
- Knowledge in the field of materials engineering of metals and materials modelling (i.e. CALPHAD)
- Scientific curiosity and result-oriented, creative, and independent working methods
- Very good knowledge of English (C1 level), both written and spoken; knowledge of German would be an advantage
Tasks
- Independent research project work
- Presentation of the results at national and international conferences and fairs
- Close cooperation with project partners from science and industry
- Publication of research results in leading journals
- Support of contract research/services of the chair
- Supervision of student projects as well as cooperation in teaching activities
- General tasks in chair management and operation
