Research associate at the Chair of Helicopter Technology

08.04.2022, Wissenschaftliches Personal

Development of Lattice-Boltzmann solver, programming in C/C++ and CUDA, implementation on GPU cluster, testing of real-time capable software on flight simulator, collaboration in LuFo project,

The Chair of Helicopter Technology at the Technical University of Munich offers a research assistant position (E13) as part of the LaBouR research project. The research focus is on an interaction-focused flight physics model for arbitrary VTOL aircraft configuration for subsequent use in the controller development for automatic takeoffs and landings in an urban context. The project is carried out in cooperation with the TUM Chair of Flight System Dynamics. The work is based on existing research results such as a GPU-based Lattice-Boltzmann solver and a modular flight physics code, which are to be further developed and supplemented as part of the project. In addition to code development, various phenomena of the landing approach to buildings shall be examined from the perspective of flight mechanics and fluid mechanics. A sound experience in programming in C/C++ and Cuda is very desirable, the motivation to independently develop, implement and test numerical solvers on graphics cards is essential. The ongoing development of the numerical solver represents the main part of the project work. The TU Munich aims to increase the proportion of women; qualified women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply. Severely disabled persons will be given preference if their suitability and qualifications are otherwise essentially equal. The position can also be filled on a part-time basis.

The position is suitable for disabled persons. Disabled applicants will be given preference in case of generally equivalent suitability, aptitude and professional performance.
