Research assistant LCA (m/f/d)
27.12.2021, Wissenschaftliches Personal
The Chair for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems (ENS) at Technical University of Munich (TUM) is part of the TUM School of Engineering and Design and deals with modeling of energy systems on different temporal and geographical scales as well as with environmental and socio-economic impacts of energy systems. For our chair team, we are looking for a Research assistant LCA (m/f/d). The topic of sustainable nutrition through innovative concepts discusses the weather-independent cultivation of food at demand site under optimal conditions for the plants in terms of lighting, temperature, and CO2 content. In this context, vertical farming (VF) stands for levels stacked at height for maximum utilisation of the floor space. The research project OpEnFarming will focus on the following research areas: - Development of building concepts for VF that are energetically optimised but also economically attractive. - Holistic mapping of thermodynamic processes on the plant and lighting in the thermal building simulation. - Integration of the building into an energy system of a heterogeneous structure to map a circular economy. - Environmental optimisation based on a life-cycle assessment (LCA) of the overall VF system. Tasks: - You will work on a national joint research project with several German partners. - You will be responsible for conducting several LCA, related to VF design and alternative systems. - You will be partially responsible for the organisation of the project and the cooperation with the partners. Requirements: - You hold an above average master’s degree in engineering or natural sciences. - You have basic knowledge in the field of LCA and/or industrial ecology. - You have knowledge in the field of energy systems or agronomy. - You are communicative and flexible and you enjoy working independently. - the research project is national, so speaking and writing German is an advantage. - LCA software and/or python programming experience is an advantage but not a requirement. We offer: We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international and dynamic team at the TUM in Garching. As part of your work at TUM, we offer you the opportunity for a doctorate. The remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L E13). The starting date is expected to be: as soon as possible. The initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. TUM strives to increase the proportion of women. Qualified women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply. Severely handicapped persons are given preference if they otherwise have essentially the same aptitude and qualifications. Interested? Then we look forward to receiving your application; please send an e-mail by 15th January 2022 at the latest to Dr. Cristina de la Rua, cristina.de-la-rua@tum.de. Please send a resume and cover letter.
The position is suitable for disabled persons. Disabled applicants will be given preference in case of generally equivalent suitability, aptitude and professional performance.
