Postdoc / Group Leader (m/f/d) in the field of biocatalysis

We are looking for our team, starting August 1st, 2021 or later, for a Postdoc / Group leader* (m/f/d) in the field of biocatalysis. The Chair of Chemistry of Biogenic Resources at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) – Straubing Campus for Biotechnology and Sustainability is engaged in research and teaching in the field of Bioeconomy. Chemical biotechnology, synthetic biology and the application of enzymes are very important in this regard. We are currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated scientist (m/f/d) active in these fields.

Activities
• Management and coordination of research projects with national and international project partners
• Supervision of PhD students, Master students and interns
• Independent execution of selected lectures and practical courses
• Writing of scientific publications and research proposals
• Support of the laboratory management in the processes of the laboratory

Candidate‘s profile
• Above-average master's degree and doctorate in biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology or related fields
• Experience in biocatalysis, enzyme engineering, protein chemistry or related fields with a working knowledge of organic synthesis
• Experience with publication of research results and in project proposal writing
• Scientific curiosity, ability to work in a team and self-motivated style, organizational skills and willingness to take on responsibility

The Straubing Campus for Biotechnology and Sustainability of the TUM is a newly established integrative research center with the goal of providing the technological and economic foundation for a more sustainable economy through highly interdisciplinary research. The Straubing site offers state-of-the-art laboratories in an attractive mix of new buildings and freshly renovated monastery buildings close to the city center and in the direct vicinity of the Danube River with short distances and a comprehensive range of leisure activities.
The contract is initially limited to 3 years with an option for extension. Remuneration is in accordance with TV-L (TV Ent-gO Bund Bayern EG13).
