Ph.D. Junior Researcher in Food Systems and ICT

The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan and the TUM School of Management offers a position for a Ph.D. Junior Researcher in Food Systems and ICT starting at the earliest March 1st, 2021. Initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (TV-L E13 2/3).

The successful candidate will conduct research on ICT innovations in food systems focusing on access and adoption of animal health and welfare related ICT innovations in the dairy and beef value chains. This will involve the participation of the candidate in an international, collaborative and inter-disciplinary research team that uses a Living Lab approach to co-design study frameworks and develop business models integrating ICT applications. He/she will receive high quality supervision from the chair holder as well as senior academic staff and will be involved in teaching at under/postgraduate level as well as funding acquisition and outreach.

The applicants should possess:
  • an excellent or very-good university degree in economics, applied economics (e.g. ICT application, value chain and business management), or related disciplines;
  • strong analytical and methodological skills with a focus on quantitative data analysis (e.g. econometrics, statistics) as well as qualitative approaches (e.g. focus groups, stakeholder analysis);
  • knowledge of/interest in ICT application and digitalization of the food sector;
  • a high motivation and the ability to work independently with a strong team orientation;
  • excellent spoken and written English.
