Research Associate (m/f/d) for the Geothermal-Alliance Bavaria

The Munich School of Engeineering is offering a full-time or part-time position at the next possible date (fixed-term position until 31 December 2020) in the project management team of the Geothermal-Alliance Bavaria located in Garching.

The Munich School of Engineering (MSE) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is an Integrative Research Center that combines interdisciplinary energy research with an excellent offer of research-oriented study programs.

The Geothermal-Alliance Bavaria (GAB) is a joint research project of three Bavarian universities and is coordinated at the MSE. The GAB supports interdisciplinary cooperation of all faculty members and chairs at TUM that are involved in geothermal research. Furthermore, it defines and develops new research fields and strategies extending across the universities.

The MSE team is currently searching for a

Research Associate (m/f/d) for the Geothermal-Alliance Bavaria

full-time or part-time at the next possible date (fixed-term position until 31 December 2020).

The scope of duties in the framework of the joint research project comprises the:
  • scientific support of all participating research groups
  • scientific work with geothermal parameters, as borehole, reservoir and operating data
  • maintenance and continuous expansion of the reservoir and operating database
  • project development and raise of research funds
  • interface service function between geothermal plant operators, public agencies and scientists
  • organization and execution of workshops, schools and colloquia for the scientific transfer
  • Active involvement in public relations 
Independent proposals for new ideas in the geothermal research area are welcomed and supported.

You have a Masters’ degree in the fields of geo-, natural or engineering sciences and multiple years of professional experience or you hold a PhD in an equivalent field. You have very strong communication and organizational skills, which you love to exert. You have a high quality awareness and an independent, outcome-oriented work style. Ideally, you have sound knowledge in the use of geographic information systems and the handling of big data. Proficiency in reservoir modelling, seismic data interpretation and any previous knowledge in geothermal energy are well appreciated. We are offering an interesting and challenging activity in an interdisciplinary environment with a high level of self-responsibility and creative leeway. Your scientific inclusion will be provided by institutes that are involved in the GAB and the newly-created geothermal professorship at TUM. Your workplace is located at the MSE at Forschungscampus in Garching. The possibility to graduate with a PhD degree generally exists and will be supported by the MSE. The salary as a research associate is according to TV-L E13. The position is fixed-term until 31 December 2020.
