This Flagship Initiative 'Geriatronics – Robot Assistants for the Elderly' powered by the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MSRM) is driven by a team of young researchers that works with seniors and elderly people closely together to enable long-term self-determined ageing.

Create.

Our goal is to create the intelligent and safe service humanoid GARMI that is expected to assist seniors in their home in everyday tasks. We plan to conduct long-term studies, technology and application research. We focus on:

  1. Design and development of a multi-modal robotic head with an intelligent, self-learning interface for senior-robot-interaction
  2. Design and development of an artificial hand design for real world manipulation
  3. Tele presence and tele medicine with haptic feedback systems
  4. Monitoring and visualization of an individual’s health, including the development of an advanced mathematical model of the circulatory system, lymph system and musculoskeletal system of the human upper limbs.
  5. Roboterfabrik Senior: a place to inform and educate senior citizens about latest technologies and solutions in the field of Geriatronics

Geriatronics.

Geriatronics refers to the use of robotics, mechatronics and information technology, in particular mechanical intelligence and 3D technology, in geriatrics, gerontology and in the medical care of elderly people for optimal support and for the maintenance and improvement of self-determination in old age.

Join the Team in Garmisch.

We are located in the center of one of the most beautiful towns of Bavaria in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is easily reachable from Munich by train (1,5 hours) or car (1 hour). Despite the wonderful view on the Alps, Garmisch offers a unique research opportunity with a network of local physicians, clinics and nursing homes.

Please send your full applications (CV, references, cover letter, transcripts of records), an indication of your field of interest (see obove) and with the the subject "Geriatronics - Application" via email to: applications@msrm.tum.de
