Research staff in structural biology

18.04.2018, Wissenschaftliches Personal

TUM Department of Chemistry in Garching is seeking applications for a researcher position (postdoc) in integrative structural biology. The position is embedded in the DFG-funded Emmy Noether project on assembly and function of the Hepatitis B virion.

Your project
Our young group integrates spectroscopic and microscopic techniques to study the organization of large biomolecular assemblies. We focus on key questions in the field of Hepatitis B virus research - one of the most common pathogens afflicting humans worldwide. Our goal is a better understanding of the assembly of the virion - a prerequisite for the rational design of drug molecules that manipulate its form and function in desired ways.

Your profile
The positions are open to candidates having a doctorate in (bio)chemistry, physics, biology or related fields. Your work will involve an integration of biophysical techniques with a focus on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and electron microscopy as well as computational approaches for structure determination. Previous experience in at least one of these fields is required.

Our offer
You will join a young and emerging research group and become part of a multi-disciplinary collaboration with virologists and medical scientists at TUM Medical Department (Klinikum Rechts der Isar). More information can be found on our website http://schuetzlab.bnmrz.org/. Your work place will be the Bavarian NMR center, a brand new research building with excellent facilities for biochemistry and NMR.
The successful candidate will be employed by TUM (100 % TV-L depending on previous experience) for a duration of two years with the option of prolongation.

Your application
We look forward to receiving your application including a motivation letter, your CV, a publication record and contact details for two references. Positions are available immediately.

Applications and questions regarding the positions should be sent to anne.schuetz@tum.de.
