Am 23. Januar 2019 wird das TUM Büro in San Francisco und der Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst (DAAD) zum dritten Mal einen gemeinsamen Neujahrsempfang am Deutschen Generalkonsulat in San Francisco durchführen. Erwartet werden mehr als 200 Teilnehmer - Alumni der TUM, des DAAD und anderer deutscher Institutionen, aktuellen Stipendiaten, Partner, Unterstützer und Freunde beider Institutionen - um den Start ins neue Jahr zu beginnen und sich auszutauschen.

Industrie Outreach – visit to the BASF Innovation Campus Mumbai
One of the tasks of the TUM Mumbai office is to analyze trends in higher education, research, and industry in India. Therefore, TUM Mumbai regularly meets with partners from industry and academia and establishes new ties for the ever-growing TUM network in India. In this regard, TUM Mumbai visited the BASF Innovation Campus in Mumbai. Liaison officer Hanna Kriebel met with its Director to get an insight into its innovative research and development activities. The BASF Innovation Campus in Mumbai pursues a holistic approach in bringing together different parties engaged in the innovation process like researchers, developers, technicians as well as production and sales experts at one site to create new solutions, tailor-made for the Indian market.

Deadline for Erasmus+ 'European Universities' pilot call
On 28 February the Erasmus+ pilot call for the 'European Universities Initiative' will close. The successful proposals will be granted with up to 5 Million Euros for a funding period of three years. TUM developed and submitted together with its partners of the EuroTech Universities Alliance a joint proposal for this call.

Your Postdoc Career in Germany - Opportunities for Outstanding Scientists!
The Cairo Liaison Offices of Technical University Munich (TUM) and Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and the Cairo Offices of Philipps-Universität Marburg and Technical University Berlin are organizing a workshop for outstanding postdoc scientists. Candidates are eligible to apply if the earned their PhD within the past 8 years and have publications in prestigious international journals. During the workshop information about the funding opportunities of TUM and the participating institutions will be presented. Beside benefiting from the network opportunity, the selected participants will also join the module on “Competitive Proposal Writing”. Deadline for registration is 16th February 2019. DAAD Forschungstag “ Research in Germany"
Am 24. Mai organisiert der DAAD einen Forschungstag zum Thema “ Research in Germany" an der University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. Die Veranstaltung „Forschungstag“ ist inhaltlich zweigeteilt: Kernelement ist die Standberatung durch die Hochschulvertreter deutscher Universitäten und Bildungseinrichtungen. Jeder Teilnehmer bekommt zu diesem Zweck einen einfachen Stand zur Verfügung gestellt. Parallel besteht die Möglichkeit für die Teilnehmer, in einem etwa 20 minütigen Vortrag die eigene Institution vor studentischem Publikum vorzustellen. TUM Liaison Officer, Zhenshan Jin, wird dort einen Überblick über Promovieren an der TUM unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Bedarfs der chinesischen Bewerber geben.

Surveying Health, Aging and Retirement in Egypt and the Middle East
Am 24.11. findet ein High Level Kick off Meeting zum Thema „Surveying Health, Aging and Retirement in Egypt and the Middle East”. Vertreter der Ministerien für Social Solidarity, Hochschulwesen und Gesundheit sowie auch der Deutschen Botschaft und der AUC werden eingeladen. Beim Meeting geht es darum, Stakeholdern das Konzept von Health, Aging and Retirement Studies vorzustellen um Möglichkeiten zu eruieren, diese Studien in Ägypten einzuführen. Das Konzept wird vom Prof. Dr. Axel Börsch-Supan/Professur Economics of Aging an der TUM und Koordinator des Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).

Surveying Health, Aging and Retirement in Egypt and the Middle East
A high level kick off meeting will take place on November 24, to present the topic „Surveying Health, Aging and Retirement in Egypt and the Middle East”. Representatives from the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Higher Education and Health as well as the German Embassy and the American University in Cairo will be invited. The meeting aims at introducing the concept of Health, Aging and Retirement Studies to the stakeholders and explore the possibilities of introducing these studies in Egypt.
