Die Technische Universität München (TUM) ist in dem von der BASF initiierten Forschungsverbund mit dem Lehrstuhl für Technische Elektrochemie vertreten. Gemeinsam sollen grundlegende Fragestellungen zu Materialien, Komponenten und Systemen für die Elektromobilität und Stromspeicherung bearbeitet werden. Einen Schwerpunkt der Arbeiten bilden neue Materialien und funktionale Komponenten für künftige Batterietypen wie zum Beispiel Lithium-Schwefel- und Lithium-Luft-Batterien.
