TUM IGSSE – PhD-student in part-time employment (TV-L E13) The complex interdisciplinary challenges in the field of energy efficient and sustainable building require new comprehensive solutions. The recently established project team ‘Energy Efficient Buildings and Communities’ at the International Graduate School of Science and Engineering (IGSSE) of the Technische Universität München (TUM) accepts this challenge on PhD level. Doctoral candidates of the TUM Chairs ‘Building Physics’, ‘Climadesign’, ‘Energy Economics and Application Technology’ as well as ‘Energy Efficient and Sustainable Design and Building’ will join forces in a team as part of the EuroTech University collaboration. Fossil fuels will be finished in a few years and the resulting needs are energy savings especially in the building sector. Relating to that many innovations in the field of building technology and technical supply systems were innovated in the last years. A holistic planning process is essential to construct energy efficient and sustainable buildings including an adequate use of technical systems. Only by integrating the necessary building services into the architecture, in the field of new construction planning, as well as in the field of restructuring, it will be possible to create buildings with a high degree of flexibility and an efficient space and volume concept. The results, coming out of the research in the topic of integration of building services in the building structure, with the focus on the building climatology aspects heating, cooling ventilation, will be introduced by the candidate to the research group of EEBC . A PhD position is available as part of a collaborative project between the Plant-Insect Interactions Group (Life Science Systems) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Department of Behavioral Physiology and Sociobiology at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg (JMU). Starting date is May 1st 2020. The position is fixed-term (36 months, split between universities). Salary scale: TV-L 13, 65%. Project description Bees decline worldwide and many of the discussed causes are directly or indirectly linked to nutrition. As part of a close collaboration between Würzburg (J. Spaethe lab) and Freising (S. Leonhardt lab), we want to elucidate how nutrient perception, nutrient regulation and fitness are linked to pollen chemistry and collection in bees. The successful applicant will conduct laboratory experiments and fieldwork, including learning experiments and dietary bioassays with bees, observing bee foraging behaviour in the field, chemical analyses of pollen and statistical analyses.

Der Lehrstuhl für Siedlungswasserwirtschaft sucht zur Unterstützung der Forschung und der Versuchsanstalt eine*n Mitarbeiter*in mit Bachelorabschluss Mechatronik, Elektrotechnik oder vergleichbar. Aufgabe ist u.a. die Realisierung von experimentellen Versuchsanlagen im Bereich Wasser- und Abwasserbehandlung vom Labor- bis in den technischen Maßstab.

Wir suchen zunächst befristet auf 2 Jahre, zum nächstmöglichen Termin eine/n versierte/n Chemielaborant/in (m/w/d) in Vollzeit (40 Stunden).

The purpose of this project is to develop a CO2/CH4 sensing system, which is compact and portable. As schematically shown above, the system is expected to replace the laser driver, DAQ device and the data processing.The work requires multidisciplinary knowledge on electronic design. The tasks will include: 1) Design & Simulation: design the PCB board; simulation of the whole system; 2) Implementation: build the PCB board 3) Experiment: measure the CO2 concentration in the air with a precision of 0.02 ppm. Students who have background in electrical/computer engineering and are good at PCB designing are preferable. A Master thesis can cover the whole project or focus on a part of it.
