Student Assistant (HiWi) Position – Neuroscience Zebrafish Team

The Misgeld Lab is looking for a student enrolled in a neuroscience or biology-related Master’s or advanced Bachelor’s program who is interested in a HiWi position starting in October 2026. The position is for 8 hours/week and will support our zebrafish team at the Biederstein campus.

Some regular duties will take place in the evening and on weekends.

Regular duties will include:
•Zebrafish husbandry including the breeding of fish, egg maintenance, fish feeding, regular weekend fish feeding, etc.
•Evening treatments of zebrafish embryos
•Image analysis with Fiji and Napari

Depending on your availability, there may also be opportunities to assist with the following tasks:
•Phenotypic screening of embryos/larvae with fluorescence microscopy and confocal microscopy
•Fixation of embryos/larvae
•Microdissections
•Microinjections
•Larval tail genotyping

Prior experience with zebrafish is preferred but not required. Candidates with limited experience are also encouraged to apply. The selected applicant will receive comprehensive training.
