Student Assistant (Hiwi) position for building a small-scale automated tower crane
28.03.2025, Studentische Hilfskräfte, Praktikantenstellen, Studienarbeiten
In this project, we aim to design and build a small-scale tower crane in our lab to simulate real-world construction scenarios. The ultimate goal is to use this scaled model as a testbed for evaluating various transportation tasks and developing advanced control strategies. Ideally, this position will be set up with a contract for 5 to 10 hours per week. Please send us your CV and any material on related projects you have worked on.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the crane requirements, including payload capacity, joint speed, and component weight.
- Modify the tower crane components using commercially available items.
- Select actuated joints and appropriate stepper motors to meet the requirements.
- Design motor housings for the actuated joints.
- Develop a linear axis mechanism for the trolley.
- Design a mechanism for the crane lift system.
- Refine the crane design using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) based on the previous modifications.
- Select appropriate components for different crane sections.
- Document the entire process, from design to construction.
