Student Assistant (HiWi) - Computer Vision for Microscopy Image Analysis

For the 2025 summer semester, the Helmholtz AI Consultant Team at Helmholtz Munich is seeking a student assistant in the field of computer vision. Specifically, we are looking for a student interested in helping us develop an object detection model for organoids in microscopy images. Candidates should have a strong interest in AI/machine learning and good English skills. The position offers flexible working hours and mobile working options.

Your profile

We are looking for someone with:

• Currently enrolled as a Master's student in computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Good knowledge of machine learning and deep learning.
• Genuine interest in computer vision (experience in training computer vision models is a plus).
• Hands-on experience with Python, particularly with machine learning libraries (PyTorch, scikit-learn).

Your tasks

As a member of the AI consultant team, your tasks will include:

• Clean and preprocess the image data.
• Adapt our existing codebase to the project-specific requirements.
• Train and evaluate object detection models.
