At the Chair of Integrated Product Design (IPD) we teach and research interdisciplinary at the intersection of product, interior design, and architecture. Our research focus is on “Creative Space“.
We investigate the question of how spatial workplace design can increase creativity and wellbeing, and support work processes on a functional, creative, emotional, social, epistemic, and cognitive level. Find out more at www.arc.ed.tum.de/ipd.
We are looking for 4-6 motivated, independent, and reliable students with various backgrounds and skillsets, to support us with research and teaching.
1. Research Support
You have experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods. You know what a t-test is, and you can handle statistical analysis tools (like SPSS, R, or Python). You will assist the chair’s research projects with literature reviews, data organization and processing, coding and analyzing data, data visualization, etc. Typically, you will have a background in Psychology, Social Sciences, Management, Information Systems, or Human Factors Engineering
2. Technology and Digital Support
In this role, you will support the technology side of our research projects. You love to play with VR headsets, know a bit of coding, and consult ChatGPT regularly. Experience with Physical Computing (Arduino, Raspberry Pi) is a plus but not mandatory. You are keen to learn to work with new technologies, for example, EEG measurement headsets. You will also handle our website with TYPO3. Typically, you will have a background in Computer Science, Human Factors Engineering, Information Systems, or Architectural Informatics.
3. Graphic Design
You have a sense for visual aesthetics, layout, and typography, and you are familiar with standard design software (Adobe CC). Good photography skills are a plus. You will assist the chair with preparing teaching materials (worksheets, posters, and lecture slides) and documenting our teaching and research projects.
4. Physical and Digital Prototyping
You are hands-on and familiar with the TUM workshop facilities. You will assist and support other students with prototyping their ideas and help the chair with smaller practical tasks like assembling furniture and 3D-modelling our research spaces. Typically, you have a background in Product Design or Architecture.
